Contrary to popular belief, dyeing clothes at home is a very easy and economical process. You can dye your faded jeans, t-shirts, summer dresses and all other clothes with by following simple instructions.

 

In this article, we will explain three methods to dye clothes and update their colors by using Viktoria fabric dye.

 

Where to buy fabric dye?

 

You can buy Viktoria fabric dyes from online shopping sites. For each 200 grams of fabric you will need 10 grams of dye (one package of Viktoria). If you don’t have a digital scale you can use these ratios: one package for t-shirt, two packages for jeans, coats, long skirts and three packages for heavier clothes.

 

Before starting to dye:

 

Try to cover your work area against possible spills and overflowing. You can use rubber gloves to protect your hands from getting stained during the process.

 

Keep your paper towel close.

 

Be sure that your fabric is clean and stainless. Prewash them with warm water if it is necessary.

 

Bucket method

 

Fill a container similar to a bucket with 60°C water. Dissolve powder dye in a different container with warm water and pour it into the bucket. Add salt for linen, cotton and rayon fabrics to boost the color. For silk, nylon and wool you can add a cup of vinegar.

 

Immerse your cloth to the dyebath and stir it for 10 minutes continuously. Then leave it in the dyebath for 30 minutes – 60 minutes, until desired color is achieved. To enhance color you can use Fiske Fiske Fabric Dye Stabilizer.

 

Rinse fabric under cold running water until rinse water begins to run clear. Then wash it with mild detergent and dry.

 

Boiling method

 

Boil water in a stainless pot and add dissolved fabric dye. To enhance color you can add salt or vinegar. Immerse your fabric to the dyebath and stir it for 10 minutes continuously. Leave your fabric in the pot for 30 – 60 minutes. For a better color performance and reducing color bleeding you can use Fiske Fabric Dye Stabilizer.

 

Rinse cloth under cold running water until water begins to run clear. Then wash it with warm water and mild detergent.

 

Washing machine method

 

Set water temperature of your washing machine to the hottest setting possible. Program must be at least 30 minutes.

 

Dissolve powder dye in a container with warm water. Add salt or vinegar to improve color quality. Pour it into washing machine and start the cycle. You can add Fiske Fabric Dye Stabilizer to detergent tray to reduce color bleeding.

 

Rewash your cloth with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse and dry.
